110 children in Krailling without a childcare place

The municipality of Krailling is missing 70 crèche and 40 kindergarten places for the new care year from September.

Krailling

- The already insufficient offer, especially in the crèche area in the municipality of Krailling, has deteriorated drastically compared to the previous year: in 2022 there were still 50 places too few, now there are 70. This has now resulted from the annual comparison of all local day-care centers.

Closing of the “Think along!”

Mayor Rudolph Haux knows that the high deficit in crèche places is certainly also due to the sudden closure of the “Denk mit!” crèche in the KIM at the end of February.

"After all, that's 36 places that are missing." The crux is that the places in the day-care centers are partially available, but simply cannot be offered due to the blatant lack of staff.

The number of missing kindergarten places, on the other hand, has not changed compared to the previous year.

However, more and more places are missing here too.

In 2019 there were 19 places too few, today there are 40. "I had hoped that the comparison would bring other numbers to light," says Mayor Haux.

However, there is a lot of influx due to new construction, especially young families with small children.

Mini day care center as a quick solution

There is no doubt that solutions must be found - and quickly.

A promising, low-threshold project here is a so-called mini-daycare center for 15 children.

Haux: "We are negotiating intensively with a homeowner who can imagine such a group of children in his building." The whole thing is already well advanced.

"We hope that this mini-daycare center will be able to open in three months." In addition, they are looking for empty properties where there is room for large-scale day care.

Such large day care facilities for a maximum of ten children are among the projects that can be implemented more quickly, which could remedy the acute shortage from September.

From a technical point of view, of course, only a large building with many places is really expedient.

According to Mayor Haux, an operator is currently planning such a large-scale project with four crèche and two kindergarten groups on the property of the Order of the Sisters of Mercy between the Johanniter children's home "Am Waldsanatorium" and the English-language crèche "Big Little Moments".

However, completion is not expected for another two to three years.

Another idea is to set up a second crèche group in Haus Hubertus.

The carrier, Caritas, is currently unable to cope with this due to a lack of staff.

It will be difficult to determine how many places will actually be missing from autumn for the coming day-care center year due to the lack of a central allocation system.

Experience has shown that something always happens when people move in and out or double registrations.
