It is now official: Bordeaux winegrowers in crisis will benefit from a subsidy of 6000 euros per hectare uprooted.
Led by the prefecture, the operational cell viticulture in Gironde which met this Wednesday detailed the modalities of the future uprooting.
The compensation is financed by three envelopes: 30 million euros immediately released by the State, 10 million euros spread over two or three years for New Aquitaine and 19 million drawn from the coffers of the Interprofessional Council of Bordeaux wines. (CIVB).

The provisional timetable for this plan “
has an objective of the first uprooting in October 2023 and the first payments to winegrowers for the beginning of 2024
”, specifies the prefecture.
A number dedicated to supporting farmers in difficulty and the recent “
regional aid scheme for the reorientation of wine-growing holdings
” are already active.
Taking up the commitments of the former prefect Fabienne Buccio, who was very attached to the Bordeaux wine culture, the prefect of Gironde, Étienne Guyot, recalled "that it is essential that each winegrower concerned be contacted

According to a report from the Gironde Chamber of Agriculture released at the end of January, 1,320 people, or almost a third of the 4,000 professional winegrowers in the department, are facing these serious financial difficulties.
10% of them are even engaged in “
an amicable settlement, an ad hoc mandate or a collective recovery or even liquidation procedure in court
”.
