At their meeting, the chancellor told Netanyahu that he was concerned about the advancement of the legal revolution in Israel and said that he hoped he would consider accepting the outline proposed by President Yitzhak Herzog.
In response, Netanyahu told him that "Israel will remain a liberal democracy" and rejected the claim that his government is trying to harm the independence of the judicial system.
"We need to correct the way in which judges are chosen in Israel, but not allow any side to be more dominant than the other," he said.
