Netanyahu rejects the compromise outline presented by the president for the legal revolution (Walla system!)
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said today (Thursday) at a press briefing in Berlin that the coalition's proposal forwarded to President Herzog regarding changes to the committee for appointing judges included an outline of two stages.
"In the first step, an immediate correction (of the composition of the committee) and then balancing," Netanyahu said.
According to him, President Herzog ignored this suggestion when he formulated his outline.
why is it important
During the press briefing, Netanyahu delivered more moderate messages than before regarding the government's plan for changes in the judicial system and even emphasized for the first time since the beginning of the protest that he is attentive to the voices heard in the demonstrations against the government.
Netanyahu's words at the briefing continued the messages he gave at the press conference with the Chancellor of Germany a few hours earlier according to which no party should have dominance in the committee for the appointment of judges and that one imbalance should not be solved by creating another imbalance.

what are they saying
"I am attentive to what is happening in the nation (in demonstrations against the government), but we need to bring something that is in line with the mandate we received from the public and we will do it in a responsible manner," Netanyahu said.
The Prime Minister criticized the proposal presented by President Herzog yesterday (Wednesday).
"The president's proposal was a great missed opportunity. It is not the plan of the people and I am not sure that it is the plan of half the people," Netanyahu said.

The big picture
Netanyahu said that contrary to concerns in Israel prior to the meeting between him and the German chancellor, the latter did not make a link between the German concern about the legislation the government is trying to pass on the subject of the justice system and the relationship between the countries.
"There was no stipulation on the part of the chancellor regarding relations with Israel because of the reform, especially not when it comes to security relations," Netanyahu said.
