2023-03-16T06:43:04.564Z

It all started because there wasn't enough room in the bathroom for all the girls' hair accessories, but this snowballed into a home redesign, but on a fair budget that managed to make a difference

The project:

Renovation of a 6-room apartment in Yavne Harecha

Residents:

a couple + 3 teenagers

Area:

135 square meters built + 18 square meters balcony

Interior design:

Chava Zadok

The project, which was designed by Chava Zadok, a graduate of the Barbara Berzin School of Interior Design, Voluntarily began to upgrade the general bathroom, which serves the girls of the family. A room that was dark, with a worn and outdated-looking sink cabinet and a contractor's standard. "They

wanted a room that would be fun to enter and stay in, and of course a solution would be found for all the accessories that are outside and create a constant mess," she recalls Zadok. "The conversation about storage flooded the couple's need for storage in other places in the house and a lot of it: in the kitchen, which did not have enough space to contain all the utensils and food products.

In the public space, with an emphasis on the entrance to the house and in the passages.

Also, there was a desire to upgrade all the bathrooms and the appearance of the house in general."

The house received a design solution that connected all its parts and created harmony (Photo: Maya Avgar)

"The couple purchased the apartment directly from the contractor about 7 years ago and since then it has not been renovated or decorated. The standard was mostly contractor with no upgrades at all, except for the kitchen. With no storage spaces, the house created a sense of restlessness and felt cluttered. In addition, there were items that were not There is a connection between them and the colors didn't connect until the end either," says Zadok.

"Due to budget considerations, the couple was not interested in planning a new kitchen and entering into construction or demolition work. Because it was still necessary to increase the amount of storage in the kitchen and the rest of the house, it was decided to give a central place to carpentry, which occupies a significant part of the space and provides not only a functional solution but also a decorative design solution Speaking in the same language, connects the parts of the house and creates harmony."

"We chose for the walls, and for all the carpentry details in the public space, a soft and warm greige color scale to create peace in the eye, and a sense of calmness. The only color that "steals" the show is the color of the kitchen and the dining area unit, the color of the kitchen was also matched to the original wall covering, which contains It's also shades of brown and bluish gray, and the customers didn't want to give it up."

"With the help of correct and precise planning of carpentry, we created a lot of storage spaces: the kitchen, which is built in the shape of a resh, without tall cabinets, and the dining area adjacent to it were a challenge.

In view of the need for additional cabinets, it was decided to add a carpentry unit next to the kitchen, in the dining area, which will be in a blue-grey shade.

In order to produce a uniform appearance and make the unit an integral part of the kitchen, all the fronts and handles of the kitchen were replaced and we repainted the upper cabinet.

Also, in order to maintain the size of the space, and a comfortable passage, a bench was designed inside the carpentry unit for sitting around the table, so the table is still located next to the unit and does not block the passage to the kitchen.

In addition, there is a niche in the unit with open shelves towards the living room in order to maintain a lighter appearance.

We also added open shelves to the kitchen made of birch that corresponds with the birch in the niches of the carpentry unit.

And ties in another way the entire design of the space."

"At the entrance to the apartment, a wide entrance closet was designed in the color of the wall with an open birch niche, which serves both as a design element, and as a place to put the small items that we throw away when we get home, such as jewelry, keys, etc.

The closet also hides the electrical and communication cabinets while providing access to them from inside, and is a place to store bags, coats, mail, dog leashes

, and more."

Textile choices (such as curtains and carpet).

The design and styling are complemented by the selection of photos, accessories and lots of flower pots that add additional color to the space.

And what happened to the girls' bathroom - the one from which this whole renovation started?

"For the general bathroom of the family's daughters, we chose a floor in delicate shades of light blue. In order to make maximum use of the space, custom carpentry was also designed here, which includes a very wide sink cabinet and an additional carpentry unit located on the surface for storage that requires a convenient connection to electricity (such as: toothbrushes and hair dryer ).For this cabinet, we chose a bright and happy shade, which adds chic to the bathroom, and we also added open birch shelves in an existing narrow niche. We chose accessories with a black finish, including the sink that has a black contour," Zadok describes.

All the bedrooms were painted the same shade and slightly darker than the color of the walls in the public space (photo: Maya Avgar)

"For the small bathroom, we chose new flooring in shades of black and gray, a new sink cabinet with a green finish, and here we also chose a shower and accessories with a black finish, to create some drama in the space," says the designer.

Additional storage was also created in the closet (a large wall closet) and a niche in the hallway (a linen and towel closet). All the bedrooms were painted the same shade - slightly darker and deeper than that of the public space, to create a feeling of warmth that envelops and relaxes. This feeling was further enhanced by adding Curtains, complementary furniture details, lighting and appropriate accessories.
