Fresh air sweeps over the cold-reddened faces of Artem and Serhiy, 25-year-old Ukrainian border guards.
Posted in their trenches in the middle of the forest, they nervously scan the sky as distant explosions sound.

," Artem slices, his face, youthful, tense with worry.
A heavy silence gradually returns.
The day before, a Russian drone loaded with grenades surprised them, a few meters from their position.
The young soldier from the Sumy region was at his border guard post on February 24, 2022 when he heard the first artillery and Kalashnikov fire.
Then, amazed, he saw Russian tanks entering the territory of Ukraine.

I didn't believe it and I didn't expect it.
Our job was mainly to arrest traffickers who smuggled vodka or parts of agricultural machinery
