A senior security official said that the bomb planted on Route 65 by a terrorist who crossed from Lebanon was a side bomb similar to a limousine. According to a military source, "the charge was manufactured in Iran, Lebanon or Russia and an attempt may be made to obscure its origin"

The device that was planted at the Megiddo junction is a side device similar to a Kalimagor, which is not known to the IDF and the police from the Palestinian arena or from the Lebanon-Syria border - this is what a senior security official said today (Thursday). A plastic explosive, with components that increase its resistance to weather and battlefield conditions. The charge's purpose is to hit people with the head and pellets, and it was hidden on the sides of Route 65 to prevent its exposure.

A military official said that "it is an explosive device that has no equivalent in Judea and Samaria, which immediately turned on the red light that the charge itself did not come from there. Something must have gone wrong in the activation of the explosive device and if it had been fully operational, it would not have ended in injury but in the killing of civilians. A very deadly device And it is sophisticated that we are studying it. There are all kinds of estimates. It is made in Iran, Lebanon or Russia. Similar formations have been seen in several arenas in the world. What is clear is that whoever used it intended to harm civilians and increase the degree of lethality because of its quality."

The source also said that "Hezbollah specializes in various types of explosive devices. We have seen this over the years in the security zone, on the Lebanese border, and also in the fighting between the Iranians and Hezbollah in Syria. In this case, it is a side device that is still being tested, and those who handle it are IDF police officers and explosives experts trace the source.

We do not rule out the possibility that this is an attempt to obscure the source of production."

In addition to this, said the official responsible for the security, "We have several ends of the threads in the investigation that will eventually lead us to those responsible. We really do not grope in the dark."

In the attack, 21-year-old Salem resident Sharaf Eldin Hameisi was seriously injured. Medical officials arrived at the scene and evacuated him to the Emek Hospital in Afula, after which he was transferred to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where he is still hospitalized. Following the car explosion, the police blocked Route 65 in both directions and roads more in the area for long hours.

Yesterday, after a blackout that lasted more than two days and sparked many rumors, it was allowed to be published that after the attack, a vehicle was stopped in the Moshav Ya'ara area.

During the arrest of the vehicle, the armed terrorist was a danger to the Shin Bet and IMM forces who neutralized and killed him.

Weapons, a ready-to-use explosive belt and other items were found in the terrorist's possession.

It is estimated that neutralizing the terrorist prevented another attack.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the terrorist apparently crossed over from Lebanese territory to Israel earlier this week.

It also emerged that after the attack near the Megiddo junction, the terrorist stopped a car and asked the driver to drive it north.

The driver was released after his investigation revealed that he was not aware of the terrorist's intentions.

The security establishment is looking into whether Hezbollah was involved in the attack, although in the meantime the Lebanese organization remains silent.
