The UAV incident in the Black Sea (US Army)
The United States military released today (Thursday) documentation from the drone that crashed in the Black Sea yesterday during an incident with Russian fighter jets, which Washington claims were acting "aggressively". Moscow, for its part, claims that the MQ-9 Reaper drone approached its borders.
The drone incident was, as far as is known, the first direct clash between the superpowers since Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year, which exacerbated tensions between the nuclear powers. Washington estimates that it will not be able to locate the remains of the advanced aircraft, while Moscow has stated that it will try to reach them.
Following The aerial confrontation, which Ukraine claims indicates that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants Russia to expand the war, the defense ministers of the two powers held a rare telephone conversation.

According to the United States military, two Russian Sukhoi-27 fighter jets came dangerously close to the drone and caused it to crash. Russia's Ministry of Defense, however, claims that there was no collision between the aircraft and that the American drone went down following "sharp maneuvers" carried out "provocatively" near Russian airspace.
Washington insists that the drone was operating in international airspace and has promised to continue its patrol missions in the skies over the Black Sea, which lies off the coasts of Russia, Ukraine and other countries. The incident occurred not far from the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine back in 2014.
