Erlangen – On Wednesday, March 15, around 11 p.m., a “spectacular traffic accident” occurred in Erlangen, as the police said in a press release.

The accident happened on Bayreuther Strasse.

According to this, a driver (46) from the Neustadt an der Aisch district drove his Alfa Romeo on Bayreuther Straße towards the city centre.

For unknown reasons, he left the roadway to the right and collided with a lamppost.

"Due to the violent impact, the Alfa rolled over several times and came to rest on the roof of a house in the front yard," the police press release said.

The lamppost then fell onto the road.

A following driver did not recognize this in time and drove his Citroen over the mast.

Man crashes with Alfa Romeo in Erlangen - high property damage

The 46-year-old who caused the accident suffered only minor injuries in the crash and was taken to a clinic for treatment.

His car was a total loss, in addition to the lamppost, an above-ground hydrant was demolished and a garden wall was damaged.

According to initial estimates, the property damage amounts to 33,000 euros.

On the evening of March 15, there was a serious traffic accident on the Stadelner Hauptstraße between Fürth and Erlangen.

Two people were seriously injured.

There was also a dog in the car.

"During the course of recording the accident, the police officers noticed drug-related abnormalities in the 46-year-old.

A rapid drug test was positive.

The man therefore had to undergo a blood test.

Officers also found crystal and cocaine on the man.

It also turned out that he did not have a driver's license.
