The Douai Assize Court on Friday sentenced Hocine Hamoudi to 30 years of criminal imprisonment for beating his partner Sandra to death in 2015, a case marked by judicial dysfunctions in the protection of the victim.

Hocine Hamoudi, a 35-year-old unemployed man, is found guilty of murder and rape.

His sentence is accompanied by an obligation of socio-judicial follow-up for 5 years.

It is justified by a “

rare relentlessness

”, as well as the “

history of violence of the accused and his extreme dangerousness

”, specified the president of the Court of Assizes, Anne-Marie Gallen.

The Advocate General, Sébastien Piève, had requested life imprisonment against this "

marital predator

", prosecuted for violence against several other women, before and after the tragedy.

He had also recognized in his requisitions Thursday dysfunctions of justice in this case, judged eight years after the facts.

Humbly, in conscience, I apologize, that of the Advocate General and that of the man too

,” he declared to the address of the civil parties.

Victim "massacred", according to the autopsy

Sandra, 41, whose last name is concealed to protect her four children born from previous unions, had been beaten for hours, until death ensued, on May 1, 2015 at her home in Hazebrouck (North) .

The autopsy of the victim, "

massacred

" according to the family lawyer, Me Blandine Lejeune, had identified 20 fractures and 144 lesions, some of which evoked sexual violence.

Mr. Hamoudi denied rape throughout the trial, and while he admitted having struck the blows, he denied any desire to kill.

I have nothing more to say

,” he declared before the jurors deliberated.

Investigators and Sandra's entourage underlined the hold exerted on her by her companion.

Sandra had nevertheless filed two complaints against him: the first, in 2014, was dismissed after his retraction.

The second, less than a month before the murder, resulted in the suspect being summoned later, with no steps taken to protect her.

This trial is a “

chronic radioscopy of an announced death

”, pointed out Me Lejeune during his argument, deploring the “

dysfunctions

” of justice.

Released under judicial supervision in 2016 following a procedural defect, the man has since the tragedy been the subject of other complaints for rape, violence and pimping, filed by several women.

He was incarcerated in December 2018, then again in 2021.
