There are still unanswered questions, and a feeling that the truth has not yet been fully revealed. It was 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, when a bomb shook the foundations of the City of Buenos Aires.

International terrorism struck Argentina for the first time, and reminded us that no place in the world is safe from this scourge.

The chosen target: the Embassy of Israel, in the heart of Buenos Aires.

The result was devastating: 29 dead and more than 200 wounded.

That afternoon the charming Retiro neighborhood was covered in a cloud of dust, uncertainty and horror.

Today, 31 years after the attack, uncertainty still surrounds us.

Over the years we have been putting together the puzzle of what happened that day.

But there are still missing pieces, unanswered questions, and a sense that the truth hasn't yet been fully revealed.

As every March 17, the echo of that bomb once again floods our memories, accompanied by questions that have tormented us for decades: where are those responsible for the attack?

What is going through their minds right now?

Will they be alive, free, planning new attacks?

Questions that remind us that terrorism continues to be a latent threat throughout the world.

And while we can't change history, we can focus on building a future without terror.

There is no doubt, in this sense, that from 1992 to today security conditions have changed a lot in Argentina and in the world.

It is a complex task, which involves not only the use of advanced technology and international cooperation, but also education and awareness of society.

We must be alert to signs of radicalization and extremism, and work to promote values such as tolerance, diversity and intercultural dialogue.

However, it is not enough with prevention tasks.

In order to work against terrorism, it is essential to ensure that Justice reaches those responsible for the attacks.

Condemning terror cannot be a mere oral expression, part of what is politically correct, but must be reproduced on the plane of reality.

It is bringing the guilty to justice so that they pay for their crimes and, finally, seeing the terrorists behind bars, as we saw a few weeks ago at the close of the trial of the perpetrator of the terrorist attack that in 2017 murdered the five friends from Rosario In New York.

In the case of the attack on the Israeli Embassy, much remains to be done in this regard.

Because impunity is not only an insult to the memory of those who lost their lives that day, but it is also an incentive for terrorist groups to continue acting in the future.

And as long as those responsible remain on the loose, nothing prevents them from attacking again.

The attack on the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires continues to be an open wound in Argentine history.

For this reason, so many years later, we maintain our claim.

As dictated by the biblical mandate: justice, justice you will pursue.

Because only when we have justice will we have a safe world for all.
