Jorge Edwards, the famous Chilean writer, author of novels, essays and short stories, famous for his book Persona non grata which recounted his disenchantment with the Cuban Revolution after a stint as a diplomat for Fidel Castro's Cuba, died at the age of 91 in Madrid , as confirmed by the newspaper La Tercera de Chile.
Winner of the Cervantes Prize in 1999 and distinguished as a Knight of the French Legion of Honor in 1999, Edwards developed an extensive career as a diplomat that allowed him to establish relationships with writers such as Mario Vargas Llosa, Julio Cortázar, and Gabriel García Márquez.
