Guilds K do not believe Sergio Massa and follow Axel Kicillof's guideline of a 40% salary increase for six months

2023-03-17T02:13:28.605Z

The UOM parity started, led by the Kirchnerist Furlan. They ask for the same increase that the governor gave to state officials and teachers. The companies propose to index monthly the salaries of the sector.

The 6.6% that marked inflation in February, a "very bad" and "unexpected" figure in the opinion of Alberto Fernández's own administration, put in check all the engineering with which Sergio Massa aspired to unify the parities of the private sector with an annual increase of 60%, through two semi-annual agreements of 30%.

Faced with this scenario, the

unions enrolled with Kirchnerism

began to lead the vanguard against the plan of the Minister of Economy and are committed to

consolidating an alternative scheme

that contemplates

average increases of 40% for six months

, short agreements based on

future inflation

and up to the

monthly indexation

of increases.

The difficulties of the Government to contain the rise in prices in the first two months of the year, in which Massa promised a substantial reduction to end in March with inflation of 4% per month, fueled the offensive of the K unions, which was additionally leveraged by the position of Governor Axel Kicillof, who authorized increases of 40% for teachers and state officials from Buenos Aires.

Thus, the head of the Banking Association, the Christian

Sergio Palazzo

, became the first to distance himself from Massa's ceiling by proposing a salary compensation for the impact of the Income Tax that is added to the 30% parity increase and raises the percentage of total recomposition for workers in the sector.

Abel Furlán, the general secretary of the UOM, demands a salary increase based on future inflation.

But the

main novelty

occurred this Thursday with the start of negotiations in the metallurgical industry.

As he had anticipated to his business counterpart in previous informal conversations,

the leadership of the UOM, in the hands of the leader K Abel Furlán

, demanded in the hearing at the Ministry of Labor a rise equivalent to the inflation projected for the next six months.

Projected inflation and wage indexation

The request of the union that

rounds off a guideline close to 40% in two quarterly agreements of 20%

, is based on the projection for the period

April-September of the REM

(Relevamiento de Expectaciones de Mercado) that the Central Bank disseminates monthly from a average of the inflation estimates of the main private consultancies.

Furlán publicly justified the reasons for the claim: "The Minister of Economy is doing everything possible to improve the inflationary indexes of our country, but in this way there will be no parity that can solve the recovery of purchasing power."

A whole definition that

for the unions the Massa plan for parity does not close.

Among the representatives of the six chambers of the sector, ADIMRA, Afarte (electronic terminals), AFAC (autoparts), Caiama (aluminium), Camima (metallurgical SMEs) and Fedehogar (white goods) admitted their surprise at the claim based on future inflation , but they did not consider it a far-fetched proposal.

"It is the first time that they ask for forward inflation, which is something that in theory has not yet happened and may end up feeding back the rise in prices," considered a business executive before

Clarín

.

The chambers even anticipated that they would propose as an alternative the idea that, instead of an increase in two quarterly installments, progress was made on a

scheme to distribute the percentage increase monthly

to avoid any scenario of conflict in the factories, which in the practice would mean

monthly indexation of wages

.

As it is the main parity of the industrial sector, the UOM negotiation constitutes an obligatory reference for the rest of the discussions in the manufacturing activity, but -in addition- it supposes an important precedent for the unions that will agree on their respective salary increases in the next weeks.

In that batch appear Commerce, Health, the Uocra, managers of buildings, textiles, the food industry, Light and Power and railways, among others.

Banking and the claim for Profits

The novelty of the salary compensation negotiated by the banks will also be another element of reference for the rest of the parities, especially for the transport unions that in recent days renewed pressure on the Government for a reduction in the tax burden on industry salaries.

The leader of La Bancaria, Sergio Palazzo, resumed negotiations with the banks on Thursday.

This Thursday

Palazzo resumed discussions with the representatives of the financial entities

grouped in ABA, ADEBA, ABE, Abappra and the Central Bank.

There, the

public banks (Abappra)

presented a new offer for the payment of a non-remunerative sum as compensation for Profits, but the proposal was not accompanied by the

private banks

, which led to a new intermediate room in the negotiations until this Friday.

From the union they warned that if in the new meeting called by the labor authorities it is not possible to advance in an understanding, they will resume the fight plan suspended due to the validity of the mandatory conciliation and they will call a new strike in the

sector

.
