from this weekend... The government's announcement, Thursday afternoon, to use 49.3 rather than a vote at the very end uncertain, to pass the law on raising the retirement age, gave a boost to social protest.
Many, especially among union leaders, still imagined Thursday morning that the executive would find the necessary votes to obtain a majority in the National Assembly.
The announcement, around 3 p.m., of 49.3 therefore took the centrals by surprise, which met urgently the same evening at the headquarters of the CGT.
At the exit, if the fatigue was present, the smiles were back.
“Forcing the government to use 49.3 is a first victory
,” rejoiced Patricia Drevon, Confederal Secretary of FO.
Cheered up, the centrals did not have too much trouble agreeing on the need to call for a new day...
