The main building of the Neuried elementary school is not even 20 years old, well over half a million euros are now being invested in the building.
The reason: In the summer it gets too hot in the classrooms.

In addition, the external sun protection on the south side of the school will be extended.
The municipality benefits from a subsidy program, so that the majority of the costs are borne by the federal government.
The Minister of State at the time, Kurt Faltlhauser, attended the inauguration of the primary school extension with seven classrooms in December 2005.
In his speech he said: "We have to give our children the best possible start in the future." Above all, the spacious and bright entrance area, the high degree of transparency thanks to numerous glass facades and the characteristic red paintwork of the building were unanimously praised by those present at the time.
But the large amount of glass on the south side means that it gets very warm in summer.
"We can't find out about night cooling and window ventilation," said building authority manager Andreas Braun on request.
So the municipality struck when the opportunity arose to receive grants for an HVAC system as part of the Corona measures.
The federal government pays 500,000 euros
In October 2021, the municipal council decided to install a central air handling unit and the associated cooling unit on the roof of the head building.
The central building to the north will not have any additional ventilation.
The building authority pointed out at the time that windows and transverse lights were sufficient in every classroom.
The work was planned for the Easter holidays in 2022 in order to benefit from the cooling function last summer.
But the preparation took a year longer.
At its most recent meeting, the municipal council's building and environmental committee awarded various contracts, including the largest contract for heating, ventilation and plumbing at EUR 477,000.
The total costs amount to EUR 700,000 gross, of which the federal government will cover EUR 500,000.
The work that can only be done during school-free times
In addition, the committee awarded the contract for an extension of the external sun protection system of the head building.
A model system was installed in 2022, which according to the building authority has proven itself.
Now there is sun protection along the entire length of the south side.
