Last night (Friday), YouTube brought back the channel of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, after a two-year suspension from the platform.
In January 2021, Trump was banned from posting YouTube videos on the grounds that his channel violated the platform's rules regarding incitement to violence.
The move follows similar decisions made by the company Meta, which operates, among other things, the social networks Facebook and Instagram, as well as Twitter owned by the entrepreneur Elon Musk.
"Starting today, Donald J. Trump's channel is no longer restricted. He is allowed to upload new content," YouTube announced on Twitter.
"This channel will continue to be subject to our policy, just like any other channel on YouTube."

YouTube previously banned Trump from publishing videos on the platform following the storming of his supporters on the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021. In the event, hundreds of rioters broke into the American Congress during the meeting where the victory of the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, in the presidential elections was confirmed.
As well, Trump's Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts were suspended after the riots.
A few months later, Trump launched his own social media platform - Truth Social.

His accounts on all platforms were reactivated when Trump announced in 2022 that he plans to run for the presidency of the United States in 2024. The former president has more than 2.6 million subscribers on the YouTube channel, 87 million followers on the Twitter account, 34 million on Facebook and 23 million on Instagram.
"I'M BACK!", Trump posted last night on his Facebook page, for the first time in more than two years.
