There are professions in which one cannot be distracted for a second, literally, an oversight can change someone's life.

That happens to doctors and it happened on time at the

San Donato Hospital in Arezzo,

a town in eastern Tuscany, in

Italy

, near Florence.

Currently, the place has become the center of criticism for an incredible situation that brought them before the Italian courts.

A doctor amputated a patient's penis

to rid it of a tumor that had supposedly been found on the member.

The operation was a complete success and everything seemed to be going well until the extirpated limb was analyzed and there was no trace of the tumor.

A legal battle

The hospital authorities decided to maintain silence until the situation is resolved in Court

According to

ABC

, the 69-year-old patient was notified of the doctors' error and he

decided to sue the hospital

and requested large compensation, the number has not yet been released but there is talk of millions of euros, in exchange for malpractice.

The doctor who treated the man erred in the diagnosis and carried out the wrong procedure.

The injured party's lawyers maintain that the error occurred in the preliminary tests or that some of these were carried out on the already amputated member, when it was too late.

For their part, the hospital authorities decided to remain silent until the situation was resolved in court.

The truth is that the patient's life changed forever.
