Gaißach

– Finally things really get going at the “Zachschuster” in Gaißach.

A few days ago, the couple Sabine (39) and Christian (42) Kottmair received the building permit from the District Office, and the construction vehicles were already rolling.

A great relief, as both say.

As reported, the Lenggrieser acquired the "Zachschuster" at the beginning of last year from the "Grüner Brauerei" in Tölz.

Approval for the plans followed in the summer in the municipal council.

These stipulate that, on the one hand, the old building is to be renovated and converted.

On the other hand, a new guest house with 24 units and a small wellness area with sauna and whirlpool is to be built.

The target audience are active vacationers, such as cyclists, and families.

There will be a playground for children in the beer garden.

A connecting building with a breakfast room connects old and new.

The buildings will be arranged in a U-shape, with the new beer garden in the middle.

In order to be able to show the required parking spaces, an underground car park with 19 parking spaces is being built - there will be space for a total of 55 vehicles.

The conversion is particularly exciting because of the age of the building.

The original building was erected in 1786.

"We had to uncover the historic walls so that you can see what needs to be protected," explains Christian Kottmair.

The couple can now build over the existing building.

"But we want to keep the character," says Sabine Kottmair.

A few walls on the ground floor will give way to create a larger dining room for 65 people.

The kitchen is moved to the back.

An apartment is being built on the first floor, which an employee can later move into.

The threshing floor is also being expanded and is to become a seminar room – or offer space for celebrations with up to 80 people.

"We will open the back side and glaze it," reports Sabine Kottmair.

Some of the old beams should remain,

to get the charm of the threshing floor.

The roof has to be completely renewed - with this and with the renovation work on the existing building, the Kottmairs were able to start earlier with a partial building permit.

The couple takes matters into their own hands.

The new building will be built by local companies.

"We've been toying with the idea of tackling a project like this for a long time," says Sabine Kottmair, explaining the motivation.

She herself is a specialist, has worked in the tourism sector and in various five-star hotels.

She is also very familiar with big events: she has been working with her brothers Michael and Peter Gascha on the great success of the Lenggrieser Festwoche for years.

"We like to entertain people," she says, laughing.

They found out by chance that the "Zachschuster" was looking for new owners.

"And then everything happened very quickly." She liked the young people very much, says the previous owner Ursula Kraus.

"I noticed that the two of them put their heart and soul into it," she says.

"It's our dream, our baby," says Sabine Kottmair.

That's why they don't want to give it up and run the inn and hotel themselves.

Discussions with potential employees are already underway.

It won't be boring for the Kottmairs until the opening, which is planned for Easter 2024.

In their free time, alongside their respective jobs and with their two children, they spend every hour at the "Zachschuster".

But in energy and motivation.

the couple does not lack.

"We just hope everything goes well now."
