36-year-old Gela Janshuili from Bat Yam was arrested today (Saturday) on suspicion of robbing a woman in Airport City, near Ben Gurion Airport, about eight years ago.
According to the suspicion, he strangled a woman in the parking lot there, attacked her with an electric shocker and stole her bag - which contained thousands of shekels and checks.
His detention was extended by three days.
The police began investigating the case in December 2015 following a complaint submitted to the Rosh Ha'Ain police about the violent robbery of a woman in the Airport City parking lot.
The woman was on her way to her car - then an unknown person arrived and began to strangle her and attack her with an electric shocker.
He then stole her bag - and fled the scene.
As a result of the fight between the two, the woman was slightly injured.
The suspect left the electric shocker at the scene, on which fingerprints and DNA are found.
Janshuvili was arrested in 2019 and convicted in another criminal proceeding.
However, it was only now that the police were able to cross-reference the DNA samples.
