On Saturday morning around 10.30 a.m. at the entrance to the Sulzemoos district of Eichenhof, a truck caught fire after a tire burst on the trailer.
Sulzemoos - The fire quickly spread to the load, which consisted of wooden parts for fruit crates.
First attempts by the driver and helpful residents with fire extinguishers and a garden hose were unsuccessful.
Extinguishing work was difficult because of the charge
The extinguishing work on state road 2054 between the A8 motorway and Sulzemoos proved difficult, since part of the trailer first had to be unloaded and disassembled by THW Dachau.
Only then were the fire brigades able to extinguish the truck completely - because of the heavy smoke development while wearing heavy respiratory protection.
According to initial assessments, the cause of the fire was overheated brakes.
The fire brigades from Sulzemoos, Wiedenzhausen, Odelzhausen, Lauterbach, Dachau and Rottbach (Fürstenfeldbruck district), the Dachau district fire inspection, several ambulances and the THW Dachau were in action.
During the extinguishing work, the state road was completely closed to traffic.
