Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi yesterday (Sunday) summarized the findings of the investigative committee regarding the circumstances of the death of Corporal Baruch Kabrata, who was killed by a bullet fired by another soldier in early January.

After examining the findings, the military prosecution stated its intention to file charges against the soldier who fired the bullet, which resulted in the death of her daughter.

The soldier's detention was extended until April 2, for a hearing before the indictment is filed.

The commission's recommendations state that this is a "serious incident of gun crime".

The committee found gaps in the conduct of the unit and its commanders in regards to the enforcement of movement procedures without a weapon magazine in the battalion camp, and other systemic gaps.

Although no direct responsibility of the commanding elements in the battalion was found for the incident, according to the recommendation of the head of the personnel pool, the chief of staff decided on a series of command measures due to the general responsibility of the commanders in the battalion.

Kbarta, 19 years old from Petach Tikva, was killed by a bullet at the Anat base near Jerusalem.

The soldier who was with him in the room was arrested.

The incident took place in a company of the Erez Battalion of the Military Police, in which Noa Lazar, who was murdered in an attack at the Shuafat checkpoint, also served.

The injury did not occur during an operational activity.

After the arrest of the soldier suspected of shooting, it was claimed that he tried to harm himself during the investigation.

The defense attorneys of the suspected soldier claimed at the hearing to extend his detention that the soldier was in a difficult mental state during his interrogation.

In response, Lt. Col. Ram Kinan, the officer in charge of the investigation, claimed that the soldier received his full rights. "This is a tragic incident and the investigators' treatment was sensitive and respectful.

He met with Kban when he arrived at the correctional facility," Keenan said.

Keenan also added and noted that after the investigators told the suspected soldier about the death of his friend, the investigation was stopped.
