China on Monday called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to avoid "
double standards
" after the court issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes.
"
The ICC must adopt an objective and impartial position, respect the immunity from jurisdiction of heads of state (...) and avoid politicization and the policy of double standards
", indicated in front of the press Wang Wenbin, an spokesman for Chinese diplomacy, a few hours before the start of a state visit to Russia by President Xi Jinping.
