Daylight saving time 2023 will go into effect on March 24, the night between Thursday and Friday.

At 2:00 in the morning we will be required to move the hands of the clocks forward one hour, which will cause us to lose an hour of sleep, but in return we will gain an hour of daylight.

Daylight saving time will end on October 29, 2023, the night between Saturday and Sunday, when winter time will begin.

This is how you set the clock on your smartphone for summer time

Most of us do enjoy an automatic update of the clock on our mobile phone according to our time zone, but those who are not 100% sure that the update for summer time will enter their mobile phone, can update the time manually.

Still worried that the device won't wake you up in the morning?

This is what you should do.

In addition, cellular networks suggest backing up important calendar events on smartphones, because there may be disruptions in notifications (an 8:00 a.m. meeting notification will go off at 9:00 a.m., etc.).

During the day when we switch to summer time, it will be possible to return the automatic update without fear.

Whether you have an iPhone or an Android device, this is how you can move the time on your smartphone.

Android

Enter the Settings menu and look for the "Date and Time" option in the list.

After you have entered it, cancel the "Automatic Date and Time" option.

Select the correct time zone and then the desired time.

Since there are quite a few different types of the Android operating system and countless versions, the menus may differ slightly from each other.

If you can't find the update date and time menu, it's probably hidden inside another menu.

Look for "more options" in the menu and you will probably find what you are looking for there.

iPhone

To manually update the time in the iOS operating system, go to the Settings menu and select the "General" option.

Now, from the displayed options, click on "Date & Time" and turn off the "Set Automatically" switch.

The difference between "winter time" and "summer time"

According to the Law on Setting Time, every year on the last Sunday of October, the clock in Israel is moved back one hour.

This time is called "winter time", and it is one of the two times that is commonly used in Israel.

Winter time ends every year on the last Friday of March when the clock is moved forward one hour, this time is called "summer time".

Every country has a national local time, according to which the residents of the country live and everything in the country is done according to this time.

Local time in each country is related and defined by the geographical location of the country on Earth.

The earth is divided into 24 time zones, so the width of each zone is about 1,500 km, and within this zone there is the same local time. The counting of time zones starts at the zero degree longitude located in the small town of Greenwich near London. The world time is UTC according to the Greenwich longitude.

In any zone east of Greenwich, the local time is ahead of UTC by a number of hours equal to the number of the zone.

For example, Europe is in zone number 1, therefore the local time in European countries is UTC + 1. The State of Israel is in zone number 2, therefore our local time is UTC + 2. Many know that the change of seasons is a result

of the earth's orbit around the sun, but few know that the cause of the seasonal changes is not the changing distance from the sun, but rather the angle of inclination of the earth in relation to it.

This affects the degree of intensity and the duration in which the sun's rays hit different parts of the globe.
