La Falda effect: Together for Change confirmed Luis Juez as a candidate and hopes to make a splash in Córdoba

2023-03-20T22:02:57.005Z

Juan Schiaretti set the gubernatorial elections for June 25. Rodrigo de Loredo withdrew from contesting the candidacy for governor for the opposition coalition.

The re-election of Mayor Javier Dieminger in La Falda gave Juntos por el Cambio a reason to

hold a celebration and to underpin the purpose of ousting Peronism

in Córdoba after 24 uninterrupted years of efforts by José de la Sota and Juan Schiaretti.

Given the small number of voters -7,379 people-, the referents of the opposition coalition highlighted the

difference of more than 40 points

over the candidate of the Frente de Todos, four times more than in 2019.

The following day, and after the survey that he had commissioned with Luis Juez to define the candidate for governor gave a "technical tie",

Rodrigo de Loredo announced his resignation from that candidacy

and that the leader of the Civic Front will occupy that position.

“The request for change from a majority of society is above any personal aspiration.

I think it is convenient

to give up the candidacy for governor and that Luis be the one to lead

the proposal for our space, ”said the head of the block of Deputies of Evolution on social networks, at dusk.

As

Clarín

recounted , the survey had been a way of presenting the agreement by which Judge was heading to be the candidate of Together for Change in the province.

“He is a fighter, a guy who stood up to the system, who fought against corruption.

He is a perseverant of great battles.

The time has finally come and he will be the next governor of Córdoba.

He is counting on me for this immense challenge

, ”De Loredo expressed his support for the senator.

Now it will remain to define if the radical will be

a running mate of the Judge or if he will go for the mayor

of the capital.

To make the decision, he complicates what they considered Schiaretti's "mischief": the governor set the date of the provincial elections for June 25, but did not confirm the elections in the municipality.

In formal terms, the current community chief Martín Llaryora, aspiring to succeed Schiaretti, will do so.

These are two very different scenarios, as analyzed in Together for Change.

De Loredo measures well in the capital, so in the event that the elections are separated, he will have a good chance of winning the municipality.

"We have two strong candidates and Peronism only one," the Civic Front and radicalism agreed.

For the mayor, Hacemos por Córdoba would go with Daniel Passerini, current vice deputy of Llaryora.

In case they are the same day, a possibility under study is that De Loredo accompany Judge in the binomial to reinforce the offer for the governorship and bet that the "strong formula" transfers the votes to the municipality.

Although in this scheme, they admit, Together for Change would not have a strong candidate for the capital.

The figure of Judge, supported by Rodríguez Larreta and resisted by Mauricio Macri, generates tensions within the PRO.

The former president does not endorse his nomination and preferred De Loredo, to the point that he encouraged him to dispute an internal one between affiliates and "independents" (in Córdoba there is no STEP).

The radical raised it but it did not prosper.

Judge is located on the side of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta in the internal with Bullrich, although he maintains a good relationship with the head of the PRO.

This Tuesday they will coincide in a lunch at the Mediterranean Foundation and in another activity of the passage of the former Minister of Security through the province.

Rodríguez Larreta and Gerardo Morales joined the celebration in La Falda -it worked as a frame for another photo together-, while Patricia Bullrich differed from her internal rival in the PRO and did not attend.

Together for Change had prevailed in Marcos Juárez last year and will seek to chain another victory next Sunday in Hernando, another Córdoba town governed by radicalism.

“Few voted, but they legitimized the mayor by more than 70%.

Another piece of information is that Schiaretti did not present a list so as not to suffer a tough defeat”, the local leaders of the coalition expressed their chests.

Another factor that could affect the province will be whether or not Kirchnerism has a list for governor.

In case of not doing so -opponents warn of a possible agreement with Llaryora-, according to internal surveys, half of that electorate would go to the space led by Schiaretti and the rest to the left.
