After a heated debate, opponents of the text failed to bring down the government by nine votes.
It needed 287, the motion will have collected 278. That's not much.
A victory in the form of a reprieve for the executive which marks only one stage in the crisis.
The more Emmanuel Macron advances towards the final adoption of the law, the more the challenge becomes radicalized.
Blocked roads, disrupted transport, busy campuses and high schools, upcoming demonstrations... The street is testing the Head of State's determination, and with it his mandate.
One does not attack the mother of reforms with impunity.
So much so that with this text, everything that Emmanuel Macron has been carrying since his spectacular election in 2017 finds himself threatened with being swept away by the wave of protest.
I hope that the pension reform can go to the end of its democratic journey with respect for all
