The 5 best hotels in Reims

2023-03-20T07:08:53.524Z

The royal city is used to sparkling. Yesterday, Reims crowned our kings in its UNESCO-listed cathedral. Today, it offers its rich historical and cultural heritage. Without forgetting its bubbles, to be tasted in the great champagne houses.

Best Western Premier Hotel de la Paix, a family story

Held by the fourth and fifth generation Renardias, the address is an institution in Reims.

It all starts a few steps from Reims Cathedral.

In 1912, Victor Renardias took over the Café du Progrès, which became the Restaurant Café de la Paix after its reconstruction after the First World War.

The brewery is still there as well as the initial hotel, enlarged over time.

Held by the fourth and fifth generation Renardias, the address is an institution in Reims.

The famous Jean-Philippe Nuel helped decorate the 163 rooms, which are modern and in warm tones, and the common areas.

The Bar La Paix, in the colors of the local bubbles, offers a tasting of champagnes.

The four-star hotel has an indoor heated swimming pool.

La Caserne Chanzy Hotel & Spa, Autograph Collection, a sight to behold

Opposite the cathedral, this 5-star hotel was designed in the former fire station.

The places are emblematic of the 1920 period, during which Reims was rebuilt.

Reims firefighters have long had the best view of the city.

For 70 years, their barracks were on the square in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Transferred in 1993, it finally gave way to this luxury hotel (five stars) in 2019. The 1926 Art Deco facade has been renovated with its "firefighters" bas-relief and the pipe drying tower preserved.

The 89 elegantly designed rooms pay homage to the region in a palette of gold, green, and beige right down to the patterned carpeting.

Which follow the linear geometry of the vines, seen from above.

The bistronomic restaurant uses the color code of firefighter uniforms.

But there is no rush at the La Grande Georgette table by chef Julien Raphanel (who worked in the kitchens of Les Crayères).

There is no fire!

You have to know how to take your time.

Château de Sacy, champagne bubbles

The precious heroines Marie-Antoinette, Madame de Pompadour… majestically inspired the decor and the atmosphere of the suites.

With its feet in the vines, the Château de Sacy overlooks the Montagne de Reims on one side and the royal city on the other – which is fifteen minutes away by car.

From its 54 windows, it scans the calm horizon, witness to its many lives.

Built in the middle of the 19th century by a textile merchant from Reims, the abandoned residence was transformed in 2017 into a hotel in the Millésime collection (9 addresses).

It offers the intimacy of 12 rooms and suites, all different, with decoration inspired by a historical personality (including Madame de Pompadour) or a happy moment (Sparkling Waltz, Happy Birthday).

In addition to its bar and restaurant where champagne (often) plays the king, the hotel offers various experiences such as the art of sabering or the choice of its vintage crystal goblet or flute.

Another experience, the Norwegian baths overlooking the vineyards of the Mobillion family champagne house.

We will not fail to taste the bubbles.

Next year, the hotel should expand by a dozen rooms.

Domaine Les Crayères, chateau excellence

In a seven-hectare park, between cedars of Lebanon and hundred-year-old boxwood, the Domaine Les Crayères is a jewel of the French way of life.

Beneath its 19th century appearance, the former residence of the Polignac family, built in reality at the beginning of the 20th century, is one of the jewels of Relais & Châteaux.

History and a love of beautiful things come together right down to the table under a shower of stars.

The 20 rooms and suites of the hotel (five stars) seem to have stood the test of time with grace.

We owe it to the famous decorator Pierre-Yves Rochon.

Toile de Jouy, embroidered fabrics, period paintings… Luxury is deliciously classic.

On the table side, the two-starred chef Philippe Mille is doing wonders at the gourmet restaurant Le Parc, where he would like to earn a third star.

The room to book:

The price:

from €490 per double room.

Do we still have to present the table of the three-starred chef Arnaud Lallement?

With a 19/20 in Gault & Millau, we go there with our eyes closed.

But before tasting its highly refined cuisine, you can also dream of it in one of the 33 rooms and suites of the family house, l'Assiette Champenoise.

The address, also a member of Relais & Châteaux, has opted for a contemporary style.

An example ?
