In Canada, a WestJet employee misdirected a traveler.

He was then detained for two hours.

Law student Ayden Schumacher published a video on TikTok in which he reports on a curious travel experience at Calgary International Airport in Canada.

He actually wanted to travel from Winnipeg to Las Vegas on February 28, but missed his connecting flight.

An employee of the low-cost airline WestJet then showed him a way down a corridor from which he could no longer escape - the phrase "stuck at the airport" takes on a slightly different meaning.

"I'm completely trapped.

I tried every possibility of escape.": Traveler laments his suffering on TikTok

However, after Ayden Schumacher walked down the assigned corridor, he found at the end of the corridor that the door was locked.

He went back, but that door was also closed now and the employee who had shown him the way had also disappeared.

But there are also employees at the airport that passengers are particularly happy about, such as a flight attendant who takes away their fear of flying.

@ayden_1997 Just a little video I made to pass the time while trapped in a hallway a few days ago.

Makes for a funny story, and who doesn't love a good story!😂 #fyp #travel #airport #calgary #adventure #funny #weird #canada #america ♬ original sound - Ayden

According to him, a woman came by, but she couldn't help him and someone came up to him through a side entrance.

However, he was not allowed out for security reasons.

But even after two hours of confinement, the law student lost neither hope nor humor:

You're lucky I'm a really quiet guy because some other people would be panicking right now.

Finally he called the border guards and was finally freed.

As a small compensation, WestJet gave him a free hotel room for the night and meal vouchers.

A spokesman for the low-cost airline also apologized to the traveler via email: "We sincerely apologize for this guest's experience and thank him for his humor and understanding in navigating this incredibly unfortunate situation."

"That happened to me in 2017 in Frankfurt am Main": TikTok users react to the video

While some are totally sympathetic to the traveler, such as one user who writes, "I'm glad it wasn't me because my phone is always dead or at 10%!"

And I'm claustrophobic and want a snack every hour!” others report similar experiences.

As one TikToker writes: “This happened to me once in 1985 in Washington, DC.

I got a free taxi, a Hilton hotel and a free breakfast from Northwest Airlines.” According to another user, this has also happened in Germany: “It happened to me in Frankfurt am Main in 2017.”

Still others can't believe it: "So someone came and opened the door but said they couldn't let him out, so he just sat there and said, 'Oh, okay, so I'm still trapped here?

I do not believe that.

I would have pushed past them and run!" Another TikTok user wrote, "I mean why didn't he call airport security, WestJet customer service or just 911.

Any of them would have been able to help him or send someone to accompany him physically.

I mean, he clearly had internet access going on since he was posting TikTok videos, so it's not like he couldn't google the correct phone number." Another user is visibly impressed by the coolness:

"At least he didn't stress himself out and ruin his trip.

Hats off to the cool way he shows.” It's not just in the air or on the ground that you experience something strange every now and then.
