The prosecution unit of the Israel Police today (Tuesday) filed an indictment against the 33-year-old resident of the city, who yesterday (Tuesday) threatened the United States ambassador to Israel, Tom Neides.
According to the indictment submitted to the Magistrate's Court in the city, yesterday evening, around 20:00, the ambassador was together with other people at the "Chakra" restaurant in the city.
The ambassador's security guards parked the vehicles outside the business.
Then the defendant arrived at the scene, approached one of the security guards who was sitting in the diplomatic vehicle and asked if it was the United States ambassador and if he was there.
After the security guard replied that it was a foreign diplomat and for security reasons he could not elaborate, the defendant replied to the security guard: "Well, it's a shame they sent me to assassinate the United States ambassador."
After the threat, the officers of the Lev Ha-Bira station were called to the scene and arrested the suspect.
"In his described actions, the defendant threatened the security guard with unlawful harm to the body or freedom of the United States ambassador to Israel," reads the indictment filed by the prosecutor's office.
