An Aussie bitch is brought to the groomer by her owner.

When she picks them up again, she hardly recognizes her four-legged friend.

As soon as the first rays of sunshine lure and the temperatures climb upwards, it's time again: the change of coat.

Now our beloved dogs are losing their thick winter fur.

And mostly unmistakable.

The apartment often resembles a hairdressing salon, because loose hair can be found everywhere, no matter how thoroughly or how often you vacuum.

These things are even stuck in the cutlery drawer or high up in the wardrobe.

Only one thing helps here: combing, brushing, grooming.

If this seems too annoying or you even think that your dog is sweating too much, you should rather have it clipped or give it a so-called "summer clip".

A video on TikTok that was recently

shared by the owner of an Aussie bitch on her account

epcathletics shows what such a short hairstyle looks like.

Whether the hairstyle was exactly planned, however, cannot be said entirely.

But the young woman doesn't seem happy about it, as her hashtag #badhaircut suggests.

She also thinks that it makes her dog look like a giraffe.

That doesn't necessarily sound like a compliment.

With this radical hairstyle, she is also not doing her four-legged friend any favors.

Because the top coat has an important benefit: it insulates and protects against cold, dirt, grime and heat.

And: Dogs don't sweat through their skin like we humans do.

The four-legged friend regulates the heat with the balls of his feet and by panting.

Dog breeds that have more than one layer of fur, i.e. a top coat and undercoat, such as Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Border Collies or Australian Shepherds should not be clipped.

It's just a matter of regularly brushing out the undercoat.

It can also happen that the fur structure is destroyed by the shearing.

Some four-legged friends even get curls after clipping, and the fur color can also change.

In addition, the skin can be damaged because the lack of fur does not provide adequate protection from the sun's rays.

However, there are exceptions to dog breeds with only one layer of fur, such as the poodle.

He is welcome to visit a good hairdresser so that the fur does not become knotted or matted.

By the way: Dogs with wiry fur such as terriers, schnauzers or dachshunds are best trimmed with a trimming knife.
