Can a dog and a rabbit be best friends?
A video on TikTok shows the special bond between the unequal couple.
Most dogs show a pronounced hunting behavior.
This includes the willingness and willingness to track down and locate another animal (or toy), fixate it, rush it, grab it, bite it and kill it.
Some dogs only show a fraction of this, for example by only chasing a rabbit or a duck, but not capturing them.
Other four-legged friends only report where wild animals are.
But in the end almost every dog has a certain hunting motivation.
It is all the more astonishing when a four-legged friend makes friends with an animal that could actually be his prey and regards him as a kind of "family member".
Dog and rabbit look confusingly similar - and have a special relationship
7-year-old Goldendoodle Wilson and 6-year-old rabbit Walter are best buddies.
They prefer to spend their time sitting on the landing and watching what is happening around them.
This is shown in a video that owner Marni Licursi
shares under the
itswalterhops account – she says: "The connection that makes the two melt my heart".

Dogs and rabbits look confusingly alike - and are best friends
"They've been close pretty much since the day we brought Walter home," says Licursi.
"I do have another dog, but for some reason Walter was attracted to Wilson and chases after him all day."

At first, the young woman from Cleveland had reservations about letting the rabbit go with the dogs.
But that fear was quickly dispelled when she saw him interacting with Wilson.
"I think Walter thinks he's part of the pack of dogs in our house and he feels included."

Rabbits are actually very social group animals and should never be kept alone.
They need at least one species-specific partner, as well as plenty of space and regular exercise.
Preferably in a secure enclosure in the garden.
If an animal is kept in the apartment, the daily exercise must be animal-safe, because damage to carpets or furniture is usually unavoidable.
How wonderfully the two alien animals get along astounds users on the Internet.
