The Manhattan Criminal Court woke up this Tuesday surrounded by local and international media that are waiting to obtain more details about the investigation of the Manhattan Prosecutor's Office for
alleged payments by former President Donald Trump to
the porn actress Stormy Daniels, and with protests from small groups for and against the Republican.
Early this Tuesday morning, about twenty people, mostly retirees, protested outside the courthouse against the former president and current candidate for the 2024 presidential primaries with signs that read: "Trump
is guilty"
and
"No one is above the law"
.
They also displayed
caricatures of Trump behind bars
and in a prisoner's uniform.
The demonstrators and the press were separated by metal fences and watched over by a heavy police presence.

Trump faces several legal cases, the most immediate being the investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, which has lasted almost five years and
centers on a payment of $130,000 to Daniels,
allegedly
in exchange for his silence
about a sexual relationship during the electoral campaign that He ended up taking him to the White House in 2017.
Crunch time for Trump
A grand jury
must decide whether or not to prosecute the former president
and if Trump is indicted he will become the first former US president to face a criminal charge.
Trump said last week on his social network, Truth Media, that he had heard that
he would be impeached on Tuesday.
But officials have been quiet about any news about the grand jury at Manhattan Criminal Court, whose proceedings are taking place out of public view.

According to CNBC, the next scheduled date for the grand jury is Wednesday and other media also agree that
the grand jury's decision will not take place this Tuesday
but on Wednesday in the best of cases.
The former president, who is believed to be this Tuesday at Mar-a-Lago, his residence in Palm Beach (Florida), claims to be the victim of a "witch hunt."
Trump asked his "74 million voters" on Tuesday to sign a letter against
"threats of possible arrest."

It is expected that this Tuesday there will be demonstrations in favor of the former president both in the Manhattan Criminal Court and in the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, although this morning there were no Trump supporters in either of the two places, both protected by a significant police presence.
On Monday, about twenty of his supporters demonstrated in front of the Manhattan Criminal Court and a dozen more did so in front of Trump Tower.
