False nails banned from a school in the Turin area, the secondary Tallone of the comprehensive school of Alpignano, in the first belt of the capital.
The "advice" is from the head teacher, Silvana Andretta, as reported by the newspaper La Stampa.
There are two reasons: "They ruin health and can also hurt teammates".
She wrote it on the electronic register, thus concluding: "The school regulation provides for the wearing of simple clothing appropriate to the school environment", indicating that false and painted nails would not fall within this.
"Many experts in the sector - explained the manager - advise against a reconstruction under the age of 18. With some of our secondary school students we have noticed an excessive length, which can also invalidate the assessment of the tasks they carry out in class. If, for example , you have to work on a drawing board and the paper is scratched by the artificial material of the nail, it is clear that the final grade risks being lower and frustrating the efforts made".
On the safety risks she adds: "They are teenagers and often greet each other by hugging each other: the material used for false nails is very resistant and a sudden movement risks causing an injury to a classmate".
