In Milan, the anti-mafia procession begins with the slogan 'it is possible'

(ANSA) - MILAN, MARCH 21 - There is also a large rainbow flag to open the procession of the XXVIII Day of Remembrance and Commitment in remembrance of the innocent victims of the mafia which is held in Milan, when the thirty years of the mafia massacre in via Palestro.

Before the procession, the relatives of the victims and the authorities commemorated the dead of that massacre. 

According to the Police Headquarters and the organizers, 70,000 people took part in the demonstration which ended in Piazza Duomo where the names of the victims of all the mafias were read out.


    At the head of the procession, which started from Corso Venezia and headed for Piazza Duomo, with the banner reading 'It is possible', the slogan of the day, are the secretary of the CGIL Maurizio Landini and the president and founder of Libera, don Luigi Ciotti, with the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala who, before parading, greeted one by one the relatives in the front row of the victims of the mafia.

They are the ones wearing photos of family members who died at the hands of organized crime.

Among them, Paolo Setti Carraro, brother of Emanuela, who died in the attack together with her husband, General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa.

Then there is Vincenzo Agostino, father of Antonio, a police officer killed in 1989 by Cosa Nostra.


    500 relatives of the victims arrived in Milan for the occasion, even from abroad, for example from Mexico.

The secretary of the Pd Elly Schlein also participates in the procession.
