Five thousand people were present this evening (Tuesday) at a protest rally to mark the 35th anniversary of the lifting of the ban on male intercourse.

The rally was attended by artists including Ran Denker, Korin Alel and Neta Barzilai, who called on the government to protect the rights of the gay community, and came out against the legal revolution.

"I call on the leaders of Israel to pull themselves together and make sure that there will be democracy here," said Ran Denker.

On March 22, 1988, MK Shulamit Aloni and the Chairman of the Constitution Committee, Uriel Lin, repealed in the Knesset the ban on male sex and "wrong" female sex, allowing members of the gay community to come out of the closet in Israel.

Today, 35 years later, a rally was held to commemorate the event in Tel Aviv's Bima Square.

The rally was organized by the organizations of the gay community, moderated by Dalit Rochester and Nadav Bornstein, during which Shai Gabso, Shahar Tabuch and Maya Simentov also took part.

Ran Dankar opened the rally with a performance of his song "Equals" and began with a message to the country's leaders: "I call on you from here to reset yourselves and make sure in a responsible and unambiguous way that there will be democracy here. Don't answer us in general terms and try to smear us. Take care of it in a concrete and real way. Write a constitution that protects on minorities and protected by the government's whims. This is your responsibility."

The singer Neta Barzilai also added and said that "I don't catch any sign of gay pride, but it feels like it's my struggle as well as mine and you can't sit quietly", the singer added and said that "there is a feeling in Israel of a clogging of a sewer pipe.

The water came up to the ears and no one can hear anyone.

Desperation and anxiety and the need to look for culprits is greater than ever.

Please don't be afraid to explain your position even if it seems that no one is listening.

Do not despair of turning on the light where darkness and darkness rule."

"Five years have passed since the great strike - and tonight we are here again," said journalist Nadav Bornstein, "this time we are not fighting for equality - we are fighting so that what we have already achieved will not be taken away from us. The fight for this government's legislation is the fight for our equality - the fight to be Equal citizens in the State of Israel! They want more power and more control to make sure that there will not be equal rights here. So that there will not be a proud community here. And for that I have only one word to say - shame. We cannot be taken back - we will demand and continue to demand equality. They want That we will not have gays and lesbians and transmen and transwomen in the State of Israel, in our country - and we will not agree to that."

The chairman of the Association for the LGBT community, Hila Par, said: "35 years ago tonight, the gay community's fight for equality was officially launched in the Knesset, but from then until today, we have obtained our rights thanks to the courts and not to the Knesset. No matter how much they incited us against us, we stood our ground. Without democracy there is no pride. We are not begging, we are demanding. We are demanding equality and an independent justice system that will protect human dignity and minorities in Israel."

Mor Nahari, CEO of Hoshan, the education and advocacy organization of the gay community: "They have been talking to us in recent days about a compromise, while trying to take the judicial system, the biggest wall of defense for the gay community. The last 35 years have been a compromise, a compromise on security, About relationships and family, about being who we are everywhere.

We came here tonight because we are not ready to compromise anymore. We will not stop until each and every one of us,

Every boy and girl will be protected and loved just as they are.

We will not stop until every school in Israel is a protected and safe place for proud youth."
