More than 500,000 students will miss class between Tuesday March 21 and Thursday March 23 in Los Angeles, California, due to a massively followed strike by education workers demanding better wages.
Bus drivers, canteen workers and educational assistants employed by the Los Angeles Unified School District, the largest public education system in the United States after New York, went on strike to protest "

Many employees earn only $25,000 (23,200 euros) a year, according to their union, while Los Angeles is one of the most expensive cities in the country, with high prices for taxes, food and basic services such as electricity and water.
District officials have proposed a 23% wage increase, but unions are demanding a 30% hike, with additional measures for the lowest wages.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced that city services are providing food and shelter for students in need.
