Ten fishermen were killed on Tuesday (March 21st) when a Moroccan trawler sank off the coast of Western Sahara, local authorities announced, adding that five other sailors were rescued.

," authorities in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region (south) told AFP.

Search operations are continuing to find two other missing fishermen, according to the same source.

The trawler sank some 220 km off the city of Dakhla in Western Sahara.

The causes of the sinking are not yet known.

According to the National Meteorology, the sea was light to rough on Tuesday along the Atlantic coast.

The waters of Western Sahara (a territory disputed between Morocco, which controls 80% of it, and the separatists of the Polisario Front) are full of fish.
