The image has been circulating on social media since Tuesday morning.
You can see a huge pile of waste made up in particular of blue and yellow bags, characteristic of the Tri'Sac system in force in the Nantes metropolis for the collection of household waste.
According to a member of the FSU union behind the photo, with whom
Le Figaro
was able to discuss, the photo was taken at the Paprec Ouest factory located near the Cheviré bridge in the town of Saint-Herblain, bordering Nantes .
In an internal message, which we were able to consult, he relates what he saw.
“In this heap, everything is mixed up.
The loader on the left [of the photo] even adds rubble to it”
, he writes while qualifying the situation as a
“big scandal”
.
According to him, the Paprec Ouest company would have welcomed
“four or five”
dump trucks which would have collected waste after the demonstrations of the previous days as well as the garbage collected after
“the Saturday market”
in Little Holland.

Two incinerators shut down
The services of the City of Nantes neither confirm nor invalidate his statements.
On the other hand, they acknowledge with Le
Figaro
that the storage of collections carried out
"on a case-by-case basis"
when issues of
"security"
and
"health" arise -
made up
of "household waste and all-comers"
- can be done
"in a completely exceptional way and in a limited time on sites which do not usually have this destination for household waste"
.
The reason for this situation, which would be illustrated by the snapshot taken near the Paprec Ouest site, stems according to the community
"from the impossibility of incinerating these
[waste, editor's note]
because of the blockages of two incinerators »
.
It is that of the Prairie de Mauves, blocked since Monday, and that named "Arc-en-Ciel" in Couëron which has been blocked since March 17.
As a reminder, in Nantes, garbage collectors have been on strike since March 7.
Besides not picking up waste, they have been blocking the city's three main collection centers (Janvraie, Great Britain and Etier) since March 11.
