The tourist who was a victim of the black widows of Palermo speaks: "They served me a drink, I got sleepy and everything went out"

2023-03-21T19:10:06.670Z

'Charly' was robbed the last night in the country, after his birthday celebration. He does not want revenge, but to catch the thieves. And he assures that he would return to Argentina.

Charly will ask throughout the interview that no personal information about him be provided.

In fact, Charly is not his real name.

He is a foreigner, but he also does not want to say what country he is from.

He still sounds

a little scared

.

He is thousands of kilometers from Argentina, but the experience is still fresh.

He was the victim of two black widows in Palermo

, who confronted him in a bowling alley, seduced him and drugged him.

When he woke up, his

apartment had been

ransacked .

It was the last day of his vacation.

To make matters worse, it was also his birthday.

The robbery occurred last Saturday in an apartment that Charly had rented to spend

two weeks on vacation in the country.

His intention was to visit a group of friends he had met on a student exchange and they had

told him wonderful things about Argentine culture.

He came to meet her, to "get soaked", as he says.

He had to live the worst face.

But, he rescues, he also saw the best.

The sequence of entering the building was recorded by a security camera that a neighbor shared on social networks to alert about the identity of the two thieves and that, finally, went viral.

The tweet reached Charly and he agreed to tell his story to

Clarín

.

He is also collaborating with the Justice, which initiated a case ex officio.

According to him,

he is not moved by revenge,

but by the desire to prevent others from going through his horrible experience.

"I came on vacation and

It is

the most beautiful city I have ever seen in my life.

I met very friendly people, people who selflessly did things for others, they did the right things.

People on the street helping.

I loved Buenos Aires and its people", Charly starts.

During the two weeks that he was in the City, he toured San Telmo, La Boca and various tourist spots.

Meat and wine were two of the things he liked the most.

But the best, she says, was the atmosphere.

"People are very open to talk, people from all over the world, you can go to a bar or restaurant and you come across someone from Italy, from Japan. A place to meet cultures from all over the world," she says.

Last Saturday night they went to

Input

, a bowling alley located in the heart of the Palermo nightlife.

There they were dancing with a group of friends when they

began to cross glances with a couple of girls.

It was 3 or 4 in the morning.

Nothing serious, just a couple of words.

They passed each other throughout the night.

At one point, they invited each other to dance.

The seduction operation started.

"The girls were curious about us and we talked to them

. They didn't speak English well, it was all in Spanish. One said she was 23 or 24 years old and her name was Romina. Another said she lived a couple of blocks away," says Charly. .

When his friends got separated from the group,

one of the girls told him to go for a drink somewhere else

.

He commented that he had his apartment a couple of blocks away.

It was all three.

They entered the building at 5:29 a.m., as recorded on the security camera.

"We went there, we sat down and I kept telling them about my trip through Argentina, about the culture. We were on the balcony and at one point I needed to refill my glass of wine and they offered to fill it for me. I drank it and it gave me

a

lot dream. They took me inside, to bed.

There they began to laugh. And everything went out".

The next scene that was recorded on the security cameras is at 8:30 in the morning.

The two girls leave through the door of the building.

They carry a backpack and several bags.

Also clothes.

But Charlie is not here.

For him, his memories only continue around noon, when one of the department's cleaning workers came in and woke him up.

She says that he did not understand anything, that he was dizzy, drowsy

and that his fingers did not work for him.

"I woke up the next day, I had no slippers. Luckily I had my belt on and my clothes too. They didn't hurt me. My passport and cards were there, but my electronic devices weren't and neither was the money. The backup wasn't there either," account.

Still in a daze,

he ran off to his friends' house.

He doesn't even know how he got there.

That day, a few hours later, he had a flight back home.

There he found the part of Argentine culture that he liked the most.

It is that his group of friends campaigned to contain him: they gave him water, a coffee, they took him in Uber and

managed everything so that he could get on the plane.

A few hours later he was already on board.

He left with his flip flops on, they didn't even leave him his shoes.

Within everything, it stands out that they left him a notebook where he was writing his travel diary.

They discarded it from the backpack

that was stolen.

For him, it was something like a sign.

"I was terrified, embarrassed, worried about how I was going to put everything in order when I got home. I reacted as I could. But I had a lot of time to think. I feel a couple of things. First that the world is a beautiful place, but also very dirty And it was curious that they did not take the diary.

I take it to mean that they took my stuff but they didn't take my experience here.

I love Argentina and I would definitely come back

," she says.

Although it seems that the story ends with the flight, the viral tweet allowed him to resume contact with the case and

make himself available to help catch the two black widows.

The Buenos Aires Justice began the case ex officio and carried out the first tests in the building.

"It's a horrible experience and it shouldn't happen to anyone. Hopefully Justice can find the women.

I have the need and responsibility to make sure that no one goes through this.

They took advantage of me, they robbed me and I have the responsibility to prevent more victims.

I don't want revenge, I want to protect more people

," he says.

Although he acknowledges the horrible part of his story, at the end of the talk he asks to emphasize again that he takes the most wonderful thing from Argentina:

the culture of helping others.

"I rescue the friends that I went to look for when they robbed me. They gave me water, coffee, they called me an Uber to the airport. That the horrible thing that happened to me does not overshadow the wonderful people who helped me in Argentina. Without them I could not have returned to the country. They are the ones who help me come out hydrated and healthy.

They are the heroes of history"

, he closes.
