Munich – The Verdi union is again calling for a public sector strike on Wednesday.
Almost a week before the next round of negotiations for the nationwide 2.5 million employees at the federal and local governments, the warning strikes should increase the pressure again.
Verdi is asking for 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more per month.
Warning strikes, demonstrations and rallies had already taken place in several cities in Germany on Tuesday (March 21).
Among other things, day care centers, waste disposal and transport companies had stopped working in numerous places.
At a rally in Cologne on Tuesday, Verdi boss Frank Wernecke spoke of an "extremely high level of participation in the strike" with tens of thousands of strikers in North Rhine-Westphalia alone.

The Verdi union has also announced Germany-wide strikes in the public sector for Wednesday.
Numerous regions are affected.
Daycare centers, administration and baths are on strike, and local transport has been standing still since morning.
Numerous rallies and demonstrations are to take place throughout the day.
Verdi has called for a warning strike almost across the country.

In Bremen and Rostock, on Wednesday (March 22), work losses in daycare centers, garbage disposal, clinics and public administration are to be expected.
For Schleswig-Holstein, Verdi called for a warning strike on Friday (March 24), among other things, the public sector in Flensburg and Brunsbüttel and the surrounding area should be affected.

In Berlin, public sector employees were called on Thursday (March 23) for a day-long warning strike.
Further strikes have also been announced for Thursday in Hamburg.

In Thuringia, the Verdi union called for a warning strike in Gotha on Wednesday (March 22).
On March 23rd and 24th, other Thuringian regions, including the city of Erfurt, are to follow the call for strikes by the United Services Union.
Likewise, on March 23rd and 24th, employees in the public sector in Leipzig and the surrounding area were called on to go on warning strikes.
Warning strikes are planned for March 23 in southern Saxony-Anhalt.
All municipal employees in Halle, Dessau-Roßlau in the Burgenland and Saale districts and in the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, Mansfeld-Südharz and Wittenberg have been called to strike.
