Cristina Kirchner: "If they are going to put me in jail, I don't care"

Cristina Kirchner says she doesn't care if they imprison her for corruption.

“What matters to me is rebuilding a country like the one we once had,” she clarified.

She was referring to "the won decade", as she calls the 12-year-old, between 2003 and 2015, in which she ruled Argentina together with her late husband, Néstor Kirchner.

Cristina Kirchner no longer talks about the management that she integrates as vice president and she does not even name Alberto Fernández, the president.

She prefers to use the few appearances she makes to criticize the judges who in December sentenced her to six years in prison and perpetual disqualification from holding public office.

This time she went to the cultural center that bears the name of her husband, located in the former post office, a few meters from the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires.

The judicial party works, according to the reading of Kirchnerism, for the proscription of Kirchner in the October general elections.

What happened this Tuesday was a Kirchnerist rally.

Three former Latin American presidents - Rafael Correa, Evo Morales and Ernesto Samper - and the Spanish José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero participated.

Kirchner received the first blow on September 1, when a man tried to kill her with a shot to the head at the door of her house.

On December 6, she was sentenced in the so-called Roads case for receiving bribes for the distribution of public works.

She then said that she was the victim of a “judicial firing squad”, she declared herself an outlaw and announced that she would not be “a candidate for anything” in the next elections.

In each of his appearances, he listens to the request of his followers to revise his decision and run for president.

The "Cristina President" interrupted his speech several times.

Kirchner spoke of

He also criticized the International Monetary Fund and the credit of 44,000 million dollars that in 2018 he gave to Mauricio Macri.

“Excuse me if I talk a lot about the economy lately, but all the persecutions have to do with the economy.

It has to do with that Argentina that came to rebuild the constitutional democratic state,” he said.

Regarding Justice, he accused her of "disciplining the leaders of the popular camp."

In the end, the public again asked for her to be a candidate, but Kirchner said nothing about it.

The judicial mess in which she is complicating the electoral strategy of the vice president, despite the fact that she is the leader with the most votes within Peronism.

In practice, she can be a candidate, because the sentence to disqualify her from holding public office is not firm.

But Kirchner fears that if she jumps into the race, the Supreme Court will rush to ratify the sentence before the elections.

For now, she can only hope that, after the operative outcry of her followers, Peronism surrenders to her popularity and gives her the strategy for the October elections.
