Bad Tölz – Attention!
The Tölzer Stadtwerke report on several customer cases that were contacted by neppers - and unfortunately they were probably already successful.
Since information about the energy price brake at Stadtwerke Bad Tölz and other energy suppliers did not reach many citizens until late, "fraudsters are now taking advantage of it," reports the spokeswoman for Stadtwerke Bad Tölz Martina Geisberger.
"Several customers have already informed us about a call from a so-called company called Nowenergy."
Due to billing difficulties, they would ask for customer data on behalf of the public utility company, presumably in order to bring about a change to a dubious electricity provider.
"As soon as they are in possession of the customer number and meter number as well as the name, electricity contracts can be written to another supplier," explains Geisberger.
These providers are usually a lot more expensive and difficult to cancel.
Warning: end the conversation immediately and do not reveal any information
The Tölzer Stadtwerke appeal: "It's best to hang up immediately and not give out any data," since the Stadtwerke and their service providers always have all the necessary information.
If in doubt, customers should contact the municipal utility.
If contracts have already been sent to consumers by external companies or if confirmation is requested by SMS, this should not be addressed.
"In affected cases, the municipal utilities are already working on a possible reversal," says Geisberger.
