Israel's ambassador to the United States, Michael Herzog, was summoned tonight (Wednesday) for a conversation at the US State Department, following the repeal of parts of the law on secession in Northern Samaria, which the Knesset members approved last night.
Herzog met with Wendy Sherman, the deputy of Foreign Minister Antony Blinken, and in a statement published on the ministry's website it was stated that "the deputy minister expressed the US's concern regarding the legislation approved by the Knesset, which repeals important aspects of the 2005 disengagement law, which includes a ban on the establishment of settlements in the northern West Bank
The message also stated that Sherman and Herzog discussed the importance of all parties, Israelis and Palestinians, refraining from actions or rhetoric that might exacerbate tensions before the month of Ramadan, Passover and Easter

The areas will return to be as much area C
The bill that passed tonight in the plenary repeals the clauses that limit entry and stay in the territories in northern Samaria that were evacuated in 2005, among others in Homash.
This means that the areas will return to being like Area C, and the ban on entering and staying in them will be lifted.
However, the proposal will not apply to the territory of the Gaza Strip.
In addition to this, the final wording that was approved was reduced compared to the original wording, and it does not allow the cancellation of clauses relating to real estate or movable property - and therefore does not allow a return to living in the territory.
However, the section in the secession law that canceled rights to real estate in the vacated territory - will not apply to rights that will be established in the territory from the moment the bill is approved.
