A medical lieutenant colonel of the Air Force and one of his collaborators were arrested, under house arrest, by the carabinieri on the basis of an order of personal precautionary measures issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Bari. In addition to the 2 arrested, 7 suspects were ordered obligation to submit to the Judicial Police and for 4 the prohibition to practice the profession for twelve months.

The disputed crimes are forgery in a public deed, illegal access to a computer system, illegal possession and dissemination of access codes to computer services.

According to the prosecution, the crimes were committed in Puglia and Veneto.

Among the 13 investigated in the investigation involving the Air Force officer, reached by the order of the investigating judge of the Court of Bari, there are owners of driving schools and automotive practices agency.

According to the prosecution, the suspects issued

false medical certificates certifying the psychophysical requirements for the issue or renewal of driving licenses

.

According to the reconstructions of the investigators, various methods were used to produce the false certificates, including the complete omission of medical visits, or the clinical checks carried out by the collaborator or by the owners of driving schools and agencies in agreement with the medical officer.

But the investigators also ascertained the transfer to third parties of the access credentials to the computer system of the Land Transport Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

The "investigating doctor", by omitting to carry out the medical examination or by delegating it to his collaborator or to the owner of the driving school, had the possibility, according to the indictment, to exponentially increase the number of certificates issued, each issued for a fee of around 25 or 30 euros, thus making a "huge profit".

The owners of the agencies, on the other hand, would have managed to monopolize the market in the territories where they carry out their business, because according to the prosecution, there was "the certainty of a successful outcome and competitive rates by virtue of the failure to carry out the medical examination". but also for the fact that they guaranteed "this service to all those subjects who would never have had their driving license renewed elsewhere,
