The flu epidemic continues to decline in mainland France, even if many regions remain affected and this episode has already reached an exceptionally long duration, the public health agency noted on Wednesday.
Last week saw a “
decrease in the majority of flu indicators
” in mainland France, summarized Public Health France in a weekly report.
Of the 13 mainland regions,
eight remain considered to be in the epidemic phase
.
The epidemic, on the other hand, seems able to end in Corsica, Île-de-France, Occitanie and, like the last few weeks, in Normandy and Hauts-de-France.
Overseas,
the epidemic is still hitting the West Indies and, now, Mayotte

This season, the flu epidemic started rather early and continued for many months.
Despite declining in early 2023, it was revived by a different strain of the virus.

The 2022-23 epidemic (is coming out of) its 17th week, longer than the average duration of epidemics from 2010 to 2022 - 11 weeks - and the longest reached during this period", underlined Public Health France
.
More broadly, the Covid has been added this season to the flu, as well as a strong epidemic of bronchiolitis in babies, to put particular pressure on the health system.
