The two unions announced this on Tuesday.

The EVG is currently negotiating more money with Deutsche Bahn and around 50 other railway companies.

Verdi and EVG: Joint strikes not ruled out

Both unions have repeatedly stressed in recent weeks that joint industrial action cannot be ruled out.

Then, in addition to long-distance rail transport, local public transport could also be affected in many places.

The first round of negotiations in the railway sector between the EVG and the railway companies ends on March 23rd.

Recently there have been repeated speculations about a possible joint warning strike on March 27th.

The next round of public service talks begins on this day.

The unions have not yet confirmed such reports.

Verdi and EVG rejected the first offers

In view of the record inflation for employees in the federal and local public services, Verdi is demanding 10.5 percent more wages, but at least 500 euros more per month.

The employer side has so far offered five percent more money in two steps and one-off payments of 2500 euros.

The EVG wants 12 percent more wages, at least 650 euros more per month.

She rejected a first offer from Deutsche Bahn: "We could not see the offer that was presented to us on Tuesday evening (March 14) at 8:30 p.m., and which only comprises two and a half A4 pages, as a basis for negotiation," said EVG negotiator Kristian Loroch.
