The Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office (Criminal) recently submitted to the city's district court an indictment against a couple of parents, residents of the center, who abused and assaulted their infant daughter, when she was only six months old, causing skull fractures, internal bleeding, and more.
The indictment filed by attorney Shir Ben David-Cohen indicates that the parents used to attack the baby together and caused her severe injuries. For example, in one case the father bruised the baby's face and limbs, causing wounds and swelling to her face and wounds to her hands. Although the mother knew about the father's actions , refrained from reporting. In another case, when they were in their neighbor's apartment, the parents pulled the baby from each other's hands and shook her with force and in a way that caused her to bleed in the retinas, fracture her skull, and bleed in the brain. Also, on several different occasions, the defendants attacked the baby and caused her severe bruises in all parts of her body , among others for fractures in the skull and other bones of her body, internal bleeding, a cut on the tongue, burns, wounds and more.
In addition, in some cases, the accused gave false information to medical officials, regarding what did or did not happen to the baby and in other cases, the parents avoided reporting to medical officials about the injuries they caused to the baby while violating their duty to take care of her health.
In light of the parents' danger to the baby girl, the attorney's office asked the court to impose restrictive conditions on the parents and to remove them by order.
The indictment charges the parents with the offenses of abuse of a minor by a responsible person and gross neglect.
