It commemorates the dead of the air force and aviation: the air force memorial at the air base.
City councilors are now calling for the memorial to be listed.
Fürstenfeldbruck
– Commemorations are held every year at the Air Force Memorial in front of the gates of the air base.
City councilors Klaus Wollenberg (FDP) and Georg Jacobs (CSU) want to secure the memorial for the future: in an application to the city council, they call for efforts to place it under monument protection.

The place of remembrance was created by the Hanover architect Ernst Zinsser, as the applicants explain.
It was erected on behalf of the Luftwaffe Memorial Foundation and the Friends of the Air Force.
The foundation stone was laid on September 24, 1961, the fifth anniversary of the Luftwaffe.
A year later, the memorial, financed solely by donations, was inaugurated.
It is dedicated to the Luftwaffe dead, bombing casualties and other aviation casualties.
According to the applicant, the Air Force Memorial is already listed in the volume for the district of Fürstenfeldbruck in the book series "Monuments in Bavaria" published by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments.
However, it is not yet listed as a monument, as Wollenberg found out when the state office asked.
This is now to be made up for.
