On the registration of the children of homosexual couples in the registry office, "I intend to confirm the methods and procedures that have been applied by me and by the Municipality of Padua since 2017, and as always done by communicating each act to the competent authorities".
This was stated in a note by the mayor of Padua, Sergio Giordani, after a "very cordial" meeting with the prefect, Raffaele Grassi.
"As mayor - continues Giordani - far from making it an ideological or partisan issue, I have the duty to protect above all the pre-eminent interests of girls and boys".
"In conscience, and I believe also in law - continues Giordani - I cannot imagine denying administrative acts that are my responsibility as a civil state officer, from which the fundamental rights of these children derive, thus exposing them to serious discrimination. It is a context that there are very serious regulatory gaps that harm first of all, I repeat, girls and boys. My appeal can only be the one addressed to the legislator and in a transversal way to the parliamentary forces to heal this vulnerability ", he concludes.
