Verdi again calls for warning strikes in the public sector

According to first impressions, the warning strike day got off to a good start, said a Verdi spokesman on Wednesday morning.

After the high numbers on Tuesday, he expects a strong turnout again - and the weather will also ensure a good atmosphere at the rallies.

In the collective bargaining dispute in the public sector, Verdi has called on employees in large parts of Franconia and Lower Bavaria to walk out.

The aim is usually the entire range of public services: from day care centers to garbage disposal and clinics to administration and job centers.

Verdi calls for strikes: Will Nuremberg top Munich's "major strike day"?

What is expected to be the largest demonstration is expected at the Nuremberg Kornmarkt.

Verdi is hoping for 8,000 participants there in the late morning.

That would be even more than the day before in Munich, where a good 6,000 people came on the "big day of the strike".

In the morning, after the first counts, a Verdi representative there was confident that the goal would be reached.

Verdi calls for a strike: Local transport is also partially affected

Individual actions were also announced for Wednesday in other parts of the Free State.

Local transport is also partially affected, such as in Passau and Bayreuth.

In Bavaria, collective bargaining for local public transport is conducted separately from the public sector.

However, the main demands are the same: 10.5 percent more wages, but at least 500 euros more per month.

The third round of negotiations in the public sector is scheduled for the end of March.
