The small, almost inconspicuous stage at Niederbronner Platz is showing its age.

Rain and storm have gnawed at the wood.

Cultural officer Tina Jäger now wants to have them trained.

But it's not that easy.

Because the iron brackets are a work of art.

Fürstenfeldbruck

– Events such as the AWO summer festival and the city’s cultural summer take place a few times a year on Niederbronner Platz.

The stage-like platform that organizers can use for their celebrations has been on the square dedicated to the Niederbronner sisters since 2010.

The floor consists of screwed wooden slats, three metal brackets in the air form a kind of frame.

The open-air stage does not have a roof.

So it is exposed to wind and weather.

And the weather is gnawing at the construct after almost 13 years.

"The stage cannot be used as it is at the moment," said Tina Jäger at the most recent meeting of the Culture and Works Committee.

(KWA).

"The floor has warped due to the weather." Dance or theater events are not feasible because of the risk of injury.

After consultation with clubs, she took on the matter as a cultural advisor and submitted an application on behalf of the SPD parliamentary group to upgrade the stage.

Another big problem is that the stage has no roof, Jäger explained at the meeting.

The metal brackets would give the impression that a tarpaulin is being pulled over them for a roof.

"That's not statically possible," explained Jäger.

"The metal frame is a work of art, not a building." Therefore, in her application, she asked the city administration to examine the condition of the stage, have expert opinions drawn up and arrange for the necessary improvements to be made.

Theresa Hannig from the ranks of the Greens gave her full approval.

"I first looked at it there, some screws are even sticking out."

"I don't think the stage back there is bad," agreed Peter Glockzin (Freie Wahler).

However, if the platform were to be renewed, that would mean more noise from more events for local residents.

"Alternatively, you could put such a stage on the new Aumühlen site," suggested Glockzin.

Tina Jäger replied that you still need permits for events.

"I think the idea of including a stage in the planning process for the Aumühle is a good one."

Finance officer Klaus Wollenberg (FDP) was skeptical about the project.

"One could think about the reasons for the expenses, whether we wouldn't be cheaper with rented platforms," he said.

"If the stage is outdoors, sooner or later nails will come out again." Because of the weather, one could consider using concrete instead of wood for the floor.

"It makes no sense to do the same thing over again in Neu," said Tina Jäger.

Chair of the meeting and third mayor Brigitta Klemenz proposed as a compromise to arrange for the examination and expert opinion as well as the cost estimate to be carried out in several steps.

"And then we'll talk about it again in the next committee." The city councilors were united behind the proposal.
